Raw was “Awesome” tonight as The Miz made his return. Of course there were several other amazing things but that was my favorite by far. Brock Lesnar made an appearance which makes it 2 weeks in a row for him. It sure looks like Balor Club is official and if that’s the case then WWE should brace for a huge faction war in 2018. Overall great show tonight and I will cover it all below.
- Sasha Banks & Bayley def. Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville
- “Woken” Matt Hardy def. Curt Hawkins
- Cedric Alexander def. WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore via Count-out
- Titus Worldwide def. Cesaro & Sheamus
- Samoa Joe def. Rhyno
- The Bálor Club def. Intercontinental Champion Roman Reigns & Raw Tag Team Champions Seth Rollins & Jason Jordan
Best Match- Cedric Alexander def. WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore via Count-out
This match was like a flashback of the attitude era for me. The match was setup really well with a slow build storyline that anyone can follow. During the match Enzo ate a boot to the face and it opened him up badly. Blood was pouring from his face. While the end seemed certain the action picked up outside of the ring where Enzo took another crucial shot but this time hurting his leg after Cedric drilled him with a harsh dive to the outside. At the count of 8 Cedric rolled back into the ring while Enzo purposely stood outside of the ring for the 10 count and loss. Cedric won the match (and a future title shot) and Enzo kept his championship but at what price?
Worst Match- “Woken” Matt Hardy def. Curt Hawkins
This was over before it started. Matt destroyed Curt Hawkins and started the losing streak of 2018. The match was mostly one sided and never really in doubt. Tough break Curt.
Best Promo- The Miz returned and set his sights on the Intercontinental Championship
We knew he was coming and so did the fans live in Tennessee. They were more than ready as the chanted “Welcome Back” to the most must see superstar in WWE. The Miz acknowledged the WWE Universe and moved on to his plans. Those plans involve the WWE Intercontinental Champion Roman Reigns. The Miz is cashing in on his rematch clause and made a huge statement at the end of Raw by triple powerbombing Roman.
Worst Promo- “Woken” Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt (Laughing Contest??)
If you missed this segment, im jealous. This was the most weird and confusing thing I have ever seen. Even Ultimate Warrior had better promo’s than this and no one could understand half of his promo. This promo accomplished nothing we didn’t already know. They are both nuts!
- The Miz vs Intercontinental Champion Roman Reigns confirmed for the Raw 25th Anniversary Show in 2 weeks.
- Enzo received 4 stitches after his match and has a possible serious leg injury
- Braun Strowman attacked Kane and Brock Lesnar
- Nia Jax attacked Asuka
All of the Rest- Sasha Banks & Bayley def. Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville in yet another tag team match in the women’s division. Too bad it wasn’t for the titles… Oh yeah they still need to do that. Titus Worldwide def. Cesaro & Sheamus in the upset of the night! Crews looked fantastic and Titus Worldwide is in the winning column to kick off 2018. Maybe new members are coming soon to the Titus brand. Samoa Joe def. Rhyno in a beatdown match. Rhyno never built an offensive against Samoa Joe and tapped to out to Joe. Rhyno is not the same as he was in his ECW days. Very sad to watch. The Bálor Club def. Intercontinental Champion Roman Reigns & Raw Tag Team Champions Seth Rollins & Jason Jordan in another impressive display of teamwork. The Balor Club might become the most dominant faction in WWE history. This could become historic!
Overall Show Grade- B+
